Think Green!
As the weather warms up in late spring and the Earth becomes green again, it is a great time to shift the diet to lighter, cooling foods by eating more green vegetables. It is a good idea to start eating all varieties of salads, adding pumpkin or sunflower seeds.  Also, incorporate more “greens” like spinach, kale, collard greens, cucumber, zucchini, and broccoli, to name a few, into the daily diet.
And when the days start to grow very warm, a glass of refreshing “Iced Mint Tea” can cool you off.

1 Pot of Mint Tea made extra strong –  add honey for desired sweetness and let cool
Pour into a pitcher and add lots of ice to chill.
Pour into glass with ice and a fresh mint leaf on top for garnish. Enjoy!

The first of May is the half way point between the Spring Equinox and the Summer Solstice. Traditionally it is the start of the summer season, a time to celebrate the greening of the earth. Ancient Celtic traditions call this day Beltane, roughly translated as “bright fire,” when farmers would bring their livestock out of the winter barns and into the spring fields, often taking them between two huge bonfires as a way to ward off any evil spirits.

Beltane Meditation
by Phaedra Bonewits

May it be a full and rich summer. May babies be strong and crops be abundant. May Maypoles be wrapped with joyous wishes and may the dancers find what they desire. May what needs to begin, begin and grow stronger. May what needs to end, slip away with dignity. May the bonfires be bright and life go on with all its vigour.

We look forward to seeing you at Spanda Yoga!
